Heating Assistance Enrollment Starts November 17

The New York State Home Energy Assistance Program will begin accepting applications on November 17^th as New Yorkers can apply for HEAP assistance for their heating bills.

The emergency benefits will begin January 2 for renters or homeowners in danger of running out of heating fuel or having utilities shut off.

Applications are also available on line at www.mybenefits.ny.gov.

HEAP is a federal funded program offering heating assistance of up to $625 this winter.

Eligibility is based on household income and how many people live at the residence.  For example, a household of one must have a Monthly Gross Income under $2,194 up to a household of six having a Gross Monthly Income of under $5,569.
