The 25th Anniversary Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association was held yesterday at Binghamton University.  Over 1,250 participants raised over $200,000 to fight heart disease and stroke.  The amount raised is an increase of 20 percent from last year.

Money raised from yesterday's walk is used by the American Heart Association for research and education.  Funding enables the Heart Association to provide seminars, teach classes and CPR training and many other activities to help fight heart disease and stroke.

The American Heart Association's Southern Tier Chapter Corporate Events Director, Gina Chapman, says "it was a wonderful day for the American Heart Association" and thanked the hundreds of walkers and volunteers for their contributions.

The Walk began and ended in front of the Events Center.  Chapman says anyone who was unable to participate in yesterday's Walk can still make their donation by going online to Southerntierheartwalk.org through the end of May.
