Town of Union lawmakers have scheduled a public hearing that could help determine the fate of an abandoned Endicott-Johnson facility in West Endicott.

The session will allow people to comment on a proposal to declare the old shoe factory on North Page Avenue unsafe and dangerous.

The hearing is to be held on November 6 at 6 p.m. at the town hall at 3311 East Main Street in Endwell.

The sprawling structure at North Page Avenue and Maple Street has been in disrepair for decades.

Broome County property records show the site is owned by North Page, LLC of Lake Grove.

According to the records, the property was acquired in January 2011 for about $2 million.

People who live nearby have complained that the former factory is an eyesore and poses a potential danger.
