Harpursville Woman Killed in Afton Vehicle Crash Update

The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Afton early Sunday morning is being charged with drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.

22 year old Ryan Lewis of Harpursville lost control of the vehicle on Afton Lake Road shortly before 2:30 and crashed into a tree.

His front seat passenger, 24 year old Joelyn Sines of Harpursville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lewis and back seat passengers, 22 year old Mitchell Birch and 22 year old Caleb Gregory, both of Afton, were injured. At last report, Gregory and Birch were in stable condition at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

Lewis has been ordered to appear in Town of Afton Court at a later date.
