The celebration of Hanukkah is underway in the region.

December 2, a procession of cars through downtown Binghamton started the first night of the celebration with the Car Menorah Parade that wound up at Binghamton University.

The Jewish Community Center in Vestal and Jewish Federation are hosting the annual Community Hanukkah Celebration from 5:15 to 7 p.m. December 6 at the JCC.

The events Thursday will begin with a torch walk where children and teens from the community will lead a procession of lights from the entrance to Temple Israel’s parking lot, ending in front of the JCC.  There will be a brief ceremony followed by performances and a video.

Food tickets will be on sale and there will be games, face painting, arts and crafts and dreidels and chocolate gelt while supplies last.
