Hanna, who represents the 22nd Congressional District, has announced he has filed paperwork to accept the Independence Party line.

According to Hanna, at least 1,187 valid signatures were required to secure the line. A statement issued by his campaign indicated more than 550 signatures above the minimum were submitted.

The district represented by Hanna includes portions of Broome, Tioga, Herkimer and Oswego counties. It also encompasses all of Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida counties.

Hanna is facing a Republican primary battle against Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney and electronics engineer Michael Kicinski. The GOP primary election will be held June 24
