Guilty Plea in Belmar Shooting Incident
Sentencing is set for December for a Johnson City man who pleaded guilty to weapon possession after a handgun was fired at the feet of a customer at the Belmar Pub on Main Street on August 18.
Prosecutors say Jason Corbett is a second-time violent felony offender and are seeking a sentence of ten years.
There were no injuries as the shot from a .45 handgun hit the floor of the bar in the 1 a.m. incident.
Corbett was quickly taken into custody as Binghamton Police Officers, conducting a traffic stop at Main and Mathers Streets heard the shot and saw Corbett leave the bar and start running.
At the time, Corbett had been on parole from a conviction on a felony weapon possession charged in 2012.
Corbett was originally charged with felony reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. Under the plea deal, Corbett was only charged with weapon possession and agreed to a 10 year sentence followed by five years parole.
