Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians are being offered a chance to train for rescuing victims in accidents involving grain bins.

The National Education Center for Agricultural Safety Grain Bin simulator is being brought to New York State in August for two days of training sessions.

Registration is being accepted by calling Jim Carrabba at 800-343-7527, extension 2216.

The four hour, hands-on training sessions are being held through Empire Farm Days in Seneca Falls August 9 and 10 after the farm show closes each day and will have responders practice lock out, tag out and extraction of engulfed victims.  The simulator will be at Farm Days August 9-11 with 20-minute safety education demonstrations given by NECAS Director Dan Neenan.

During the hands-on training, the grain bin rescue unit is filled with 100 bushels of corn.

Information on the training and Empire Farm Days can be found online at www.empirefarmdays.com.
