Notre Dame's announcement today that it is leaving the Big East to join the ACC in all sports but football caught many Big East fans by surprise.  The ACC adds another highly successful school while the Big East exodus continues.  The Fighting Irish football team will remain independent but under the agreement will play five games against ACC opponents every season.  Notre Dame basketball fans will be able to continue rivalries with Pitt and Syracuse and will now regularly face mega-powers like North Carolina and Duke.  The Big East will still be a basketball power with the likes of  Georgetown, Villanova, Connecticut , Cincinnati and Louisville.  We have a large contingent of Notre Dame alumni and fans in our area.  What do you think ?  Good move for the Fighting Irish ?  How badly will it hurt the Big East ?  Will Notre Dame's football team ever become an official member of the ACC or any other conference ?  Let us know.  Email me at Roger@wnbf.com.
