Motorists using Route 17 East and 81 North through the Prospect Mountain Project  will note a major change as early as tomorrow.  New York State Department of Transportation Region 9 Director Jack Williams said today that beginning as early as tomorrow the ramp from Route 17 East to Interstate 81 North will open.

Williams said the plan is to have that ramp open at some point tomorrow.  That opening is contingent on weather conditions and progress made overnight.  If the opening is not possible tomorrow then the opening will most likely occur early next week.

Williams went on to request that people pay attention to signage and overhead message boards for the latest travel information.  He also urged  local residents to use alternate routes when possible over the next several days until that ramp opening has occurred.
