The 13th Annual Garlic Fest at the American Civic Association at 131 Front Street in Binghamton drew a big crowd on Saturday.  The event ran from 11 AM to 6 PM and people were on hand even before the doors officially opened to get their garlic.  Over 40 vendors participated with as many as 24 different kinds of garlic made available to shoppers.

Garlic was the big draw but there were plenty of other attractions including music and ethnic dancing.  A number of of ethnic foods were available in the food court along with garlic ice cream.  The vanilla ice cream had chunks of garlic added.  Some had sampled this at previous Garlic Fest's but many others tried it for the first time.  Most seemed to enjoy the unique flavor and taste.

Food ranged from halupki and piroghi to egg rolls and many other diverse dishes.  Many came to eat lunch and then took some food home to share or enjoy later.  Organizers said this was one of the best turnouts for their Garlic Fest.  Weather was a big factor as visitors were able to enjoy sunny skies as they did their garlic shopping.
