City of Binghamton police say a traffic stop at the intersection of Carroll and Pine Streets at around 6 p.m. September 2 turned up a fugitive from justice, who was wanted for a shooting in Wilkes-Barre September 1.

Police say 30 year old Sherman Wilborne of Scranton and 32 year old Icota Shaw, who lists no permanent address provided false names to officers at first but police uncovered their real identities.

Wilkes was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting of a woman. Officials say Shaw was wanted on an active warrant and authorities had been looking for him since January.

Both were sent to the Broome County Jail. Wilborne is awaiting extradition to  Pennsylvania.
