Front Street, Binghamton Ramp Closed for Months

Motorists trying to get to Downtown Binghamton from State Route 17 east bound will not be able to get to Front Street at Exit 72 for several weeks.

Exit 72 is closed for two months while crews reconstruct the ramp.
A signed detour will direct motorists to Interstate 81 North to the Exit 5 access to Upper Front Street.

Local drivers are encouraged to find other routes in order to help relieve some of the traffic congestion in the region.

Traffic in that area is expected to be especially heavy since Exit 5, Upper Front Street, is frequently used by traffic headed to SUNY Broome Community College.
