Frances Libous is planning to retire from her job as vice chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.

According to the Times Union of Albany, the 62-year-old Libous has filed papers indicating she intends to leave the post at the end of the year, although her term runs through 2017.

Libous, who is the wife of Senator Thomas Libous, was appointed to the board by Governor George Pataki in 2001. She was reappointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to another term last year.

According to the newspaper report, a spokeswoman for the Workers' Compensation Board was unable to provide information on why Frances Libous intended to retire before her term ended.

A spokesman for Senator Libous had no comment on the development.
