Both supporters of natural gas drilling and opponents of high volume hydraulic fracture drilling or 'fracking'  packed the Regal Cinemas in the Town of Dickinson February 10th for a free showing of the documentary, Frack Nation. The film is a contrast to the anti-fracking film Gasland that was released in 2010.

Organizers of the screening event say some 500 people had pre-registered for the showing, including very vocal fracking opponent, Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan.

Ryan claimed the film put out misinformation while the landowners coalitions said the mayor missed the point and that the documentary was an objective look at the pros and cons of natural gas exploration.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is facing another deadline this month as the DEC works to come up with regulatory guidelines for natural gas drilling in the state.
