Former Spencer Fire Treasurer Sentence for Larceny

The former treasurer of the Spencer Fire Department will have to serve 90 days in the Tioga County Jail for stealing over $50,000 from the fire company.

37 year old Jennifer Grier of Spencer pleaded guilty in January to grand larceny.

She’s also been ordered to pay $51,843.32 in restitution to the Spencer Fire Department and will be on probation for five years.

Officials say the theft from the fire department happened as Grier served as treasurer from mid 2008 to March of 2014.  She had been treasurer since 2004.

New York State Police arrested Grier on April 24 of last year.
