Edward Arrington, who served three terms as the mayor of the village of Owego, died Wednesday afternoon. Arrington was 70.

Arrington had been an Owego village board member and was a member of the Owego Emergency Squad and the fire police. He had worked for IBM for 33 years.

Current Owego mayor Kevin Millar praised Arrington as an "exemplary public servant."

Millar noted Arrignton had been a strong supporter of the village riverwalk, which runs along the Susquehanna.

Arrington's family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from one to four at the Estey, Munroe and Fahey Funeral Home in Owego.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Owego.
