A Binghamton woman will spend six months in jail and be on probation for five years after admitting she stole more than $50,000 from her employer.

49 year old Mary Ellen Schilling pleaded guilty in January to grand larceny and was sentenced in Broome County Court April 20.

The woman pilfered money from the checking account of Oral Surgery Associates of the Southern Tier between May of 2008 and mid-October 2013 while employed as the officer manager and bookkeeper.

Schilling has paid back $164,325 to her former employers and their insurance companies.

Schilling’s plea deal to six months in local incarceration spared her up to seven years in New York State Prison.
