The lot in the middle of Downtown Binghamton that once housed an office building then a tent city for Occupy Binghamton protestors is for sale.

The city has put out a request for sealed bids to purchase 70-72 Court Street which is currently a vacant lot at the corner of Court and State Streets. The site currently only has a couple garbage receptacles and park benches surrounded by a low concrete wall on the State Street side.

The property is zoned for large retail stores, specialty shops and services, business services, financial institutions, office, theaters, sports and entertainment facilities and other uses.

The bid request specifies that the property is offered as is.

Given its location, the City Commission on Architecture and Urban Design and the New York State Office of Parks and Historic Preservation will have to conduct an aesthetic review of any plans before a building permit would be issued.

Three copies of a purchase bid must be received by 10:30 a.m. April 16.
