Jeffrey Kraham, who served as Broome County Executive for eight years has died. He was 66.

According to a statement released by Kraham's family, he died Friday (March 4) following a two-year battle with cancer.

Kraham is survived by his wife, Wallis Kraham, and their two children, Merissa (Kraham) Veléz and Jared Kraham.

Kraham was county executive from 1997 to 2004. The new county library in downtown Binghamton, which opened in 2000, was renamed the Jeffrey P. Kraham Public Library in December.

Prior to becoming county executive, Kraham was a member of the county legislature from 1977 to 1990. After he left office as executive, he was appointed State and Counties Liason by Governor George Pataki.

Kraham, who lived in Hillcrest, also served as a Town of Fenton councilman from 2011 until his death.

Kraham was a graduate of Chenango Valley High School and earned a B.A. in business from Binghamton University.
