Former Bookkeeper Admits Theft

Sentencing is set for April for a Binghamton woman who admitted to stealing over $50,000 from her bosses while employed by Oral Surgery Associates of the Southern Tier.

48 year old Mary Ellen Schilling pleaded guilty to grand larceny and has been ordered to pay $164,325.48 in restitution.

The former bookkeeper could spend 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison but the sentence could be reduced if she is able to pay a substantial amount of the ordered restitution before April 20.

Officials say the woman took the money from the company’s checking account between 2008 and 2013.
