Former Binghamton Bearcat Ace Making His Mark in Pro Ball
Former Binghamton Bearcat ace Mike Augliera is working his way up the ladder in professional baseball. After two seasons in Class A ball Augliera is now pitching for the Portland Sea Dogs in the Double-A Eastern League. He was the starting pitcher last Friday at NYSEG Stadium when his Sea Dogs faced the B-Mets. He pitched seven innings and gave up all five runs in a 5-1 loss to Binghamton. Only two of those runs were earned .
Augliera is 2-2 after five starts this season and sports an ERA of 3.48 over 31 innings pitched. In his stint against the B-Mets he pitched in front of several family members and this year's Binghamton Bearcats baseball team who came out to watch their former teammate perform.
Augliera, a native of Old Bridge, New Jersey was a fifth round pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2012 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft.
