New York State and local leaders are remembering former State Assembly Minority Leader Clarence “Rapp” Rappleyea.

The popular former lawyer from Chenango County is described by Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan as a man deeply respected on both sides of the political aisle and admired by Republicans and Democrats through his 22 years in the Assembly and 12 years as Minority Leader.

Former Binghamton Mayor Richard Bucci says he found in the six years he served as Rappleyea’s Regional Coordinator for southern and central New York that Rapp was genuinely interested in the issues facing his constituents and was known for personally following up on residents’ concerns.

The Conservative Republican from Norwich passed away September 4 at Albany Medical Center at the age of 82
