Football Powers Collide Saturday

Two standout football programs collide on Saturday in Endwell when the Maine-Endwell Spartans host the Elmira Express at 1:30 PM.  It is Homecoming Weekend for the Spartans.  Elmira competes in Section 4 Division I in combined AA/A schools.  The Express has a 4-1 record this season with the only loss to Union-Endicott.  The loss occurred in week four with the Tigers taking a 21-18 decision.

Maine-Endwell is 5-0 and is on top in Class B Division III play.  The Spartans have outscored opponents by a 138 to 52 margin.  Elmira has put up 207 points in five games while yielding 126 points.

The game is part of M-E’s Homecoming Weekend.  There will be a parade prior to kickoff.  The parade begins near the O.L.Davis Volunteer Fire Department off Country Club Road and proceeds up Hooper Road and past the entrance to Maine-Endwell High School.

The United States Army will be at the game with a display and information on careers in the Army.  The contest will also be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:20 PM.
