Adam and Eve Brownies (Prep time about 45 minutes. Yields 12 to 15 brownies depending on how small they’re cut)

½ C.  room temperature butter

1 C. granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla 1/3 C. cocoa

½ C. four ¼ tsp. baking powder

¼ tsp. salt

½ Granny Smith Apple, peeled, cored and finely diced (about 1 C.)

6 figs finely diced (about ½ C.)

Preheat oven to 275. Butter a small cake pan and dust with flour or a little cocoa powder if you don’t want white powder on the brownies. Cream together the butter and sugar and mix in the eggs and vanilla.  In a separate bowl combine the flour, salt, cocoa and baking powder.  Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the moist with the mixer on low to keep the flour from flying all over. Mix just until everything is well incorporated.  Fold in the diced fruit. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about a half hour until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cut into squares.  Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
