Broome County will be paying $80,000 to TransPro Consulting from Tampa, Florida to outline plans to revamp the county’s bus service.

The county legislature has okayed the year-long contract to look into ways to make BC Transit more efficient in both its rate structure and routes.

County officials say they are not looking to cut service but to save overall costs to taxpayers in running the system.

Specifically, transportation officials are looking at ways to increase ridership and efficiency, possible route changes, fare adjustments and making the most of frequency of runs and stops as well as locations and hours of service.
