Floral Avenue, Johnson City 3 Alarm Fire

There are reports of at least two injuries requiring hospital attention in a three alarm fire at the Floral Apartments at 85 Floral Avenue in Johnson City.

Broome County Emergency Services Dispatchers began sending fire crews to the scene at 3:10 this morning and the call escalated to a third alarm in about 15 minutes.

There had been initial reports of several tenants trapped in the burning building, but less than a half hour later, dispatchers said that everyone had been evacuated.

One of the two people transported to the hospital was said to be a firefighter.  The nature of the injuries is not known.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.

There are about 35 apartment units in the sprawling complex near the Binghamton City line.
