A public-private partnership is credited with putting a bridge replacement project in Susquehanna County on the fast-track.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says the first bridge to be completed in the P3 project’s goal to rebuild 558 bridges across the state in the next three years is the crossing on Bear Swamp Road, State Route 1,007 where it crosses South Branch Canawachta Creek in Thompson Township.

PennDOT says the bridge was closed for reconstruction in early July and reopened to traffic the afternoon of December 29.

While the span is back in business, officials say final paving will take place in the spring when temperatures are consistently over 50 degrees.
