Deliberations in the murder trial of Almond Upton, who is accused of running over New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner, enter a second full day in Broome County Court.

Starting in the afternoon of August 3, the jury deliberated seven hours in the case to determine if the Florida man knew what he was doing when he swerved from the left lane of Interstate 81 between Chenango Bridge and Castle Creek in 2014, running down and killing Skinner or if he is not guilty by reason of mental defect.

The defense has said during the trial there is no argument as to whether Upton ran over and killed Trooper Skinner but asked the jury to consider why he did it.

The jury has requested more information concerning the testimony of family members about Upton's actions in weeks prior to the incident and about information from mental health experts.
