A majority of local police agencies say they have been very busy over the past couple of days and especially overnight July 4 with complaints about fireworks.

Authorities say, while New York State lifted restrictions on many types of pyrotechnics last year, regulations vary by municipality as to what non-launching types of fireworks, if any, are allowed.

There were no reports of serious fireworks-related injuries but complaints about the blasts continued well into the early morning hours.

Other police activity overnight July 4-5 involved a variety of reports including alcohol, loud parties and domestic conflicts keeping officers on the streets and emergency dispatchers busy on the evening and overnight shifts.
