Two downtown Binghamton structures damaged by a blaze two-and-a-half months ago have yet to be demolished.

The city had ordered the owner of the property at 162 Henry Street to take action to have the buildings torn down within 30 days.

When the owner did not comply with the directive, Mayor Richard David said the city would take care of the demolition.

On May 19, David said the demolitions could start "in the next few days." But the structures - which are across from the NYSEG Stadium parking lot - remain standing.

There's been no explanation for the delay in the work from City Hall.

The mayor had said "burned-out eyesores are a concern" and he acknowledged residents are frustrated when damaged buildings aren't promptly removed.

City workers have installed wooden barricades and yellow police tape on the sidewalk in front of the structures to protect people from falling debris.
