No injuries are reported after fire ripped through an apartment house housing Cornell University students early March 14.

Authorities say two of the twelve residents of the home in the Collegetown area of Ithaca were home when the fire broke out shortly before one in the morning.

The blaze rapidly spread through the three story structure.

Authorities say the cause of the fire is under investigation.

It’s not known if smoke detectors in the building were working.  Officials remind everyone, whether they are homeowners or renters, to make sure there are fresh batteries in their smoke detectors and that the devices are properly functioning.

Cornell University is helping the displaced students with housing.
