Officials are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a house in Newark Valley June 17.No one was home at the residence on Pump Hill Road shortly after 8:30 a.m.

While it took firefights less than an hour to bring the blaze under control, the floor and a portion of the metal roof collapsed and firefighters had to focus their efforts on an outside attack.

There were no injuries.

Crews from the Newark Valley, Nanticoke, Maine, Berkshire, Glen Aubrey, Union Center and West Corners fire departments responded to the scene.
