So far there have been no reports of injuries in a major house fire in Hancock.

Emergency Services officials say the blaze on East Main Street was reported shortly before midnight November 17 and firefighters from Broome County were also sent in at around 12:20 a.m. November 18 to assist firefighters from companies in Delaware County.

Officials reported the large building was fully involved in flames when they arrived on the scene.

There reportedly was no one home at the time.

Firefighters say they were hampered working on the dead-end street due to a lack of hydrants and the narrowness of the road.

It took a couple hours to initially bring the blaze under control but the fire flared back up after the roof collapsed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
