Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a blaze that destroyed a home at Route 96 and Kelsey Road in the Town of Candor.

Officials say no one was home when the fire broke out after 2 p.m. September 13.

Firefighters from Candor, Owego, Newark Valley, Spencer and Weltonville had to mount a defensive attack, given the intensity of the fire created by voids in the construction in the area of additions.

Neighbors rescued two dogs from the house.

The family of four is getting assistance from the American Red Cross and relatives.

There were no injuries reported.
