No injuries are reported after a two-alarm fire heavily damaged a long-vacant building near Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, October 15th.

The blaze at a former boarding house at the corner of Baldwin Street and Corliss Avenue was reported at around 6:30 p.m. and flames could be seen shooting from the side of the structure.

The utilities to the derelict building had been shut off for years.

Several years ago, a large sign was affixed to the side of the building proclaiming plans to develop the site into medical offices.

The fire scene is kitty-corner across Baldwin Street from Brozzetti’s Pizza and only about a block away from the future home of Binghamton University's School of Pharmacy.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Johnson City, Binghamton, Prospect Terrace and Choconut Center, along with law enforcement and Emergency Medical crews were all called into action and many firefighters were on the scene for close to two hours.

Traffic patterns in the area were restored to normal later that evening.
