Fire Damages Binghamton House
Binghamton firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze in a home on the city's East Side May 13.
Authorities say the fire in the single-family house at 15 Howard Avenue was reported at 8:26 a.m.
Assistant fire chief Stephen Faughnan said there were no injuries. He said the fire was brought under control after about ten minutes.
Investigators said the blaze started in a second-floor bedroom. Faughnan said the woman who discovered the fire closed a door, helping to keep fire damage confined to that room.
Faughnan said the blaze generated "quite a bit of heat," melting a television set.
