The New York State Attorney General’s office accuses a contractor operating in the Binghamton region of bilking people with a paving scam.

Joshua and Robert Cooper, doing business under the name Finger Lakes Asphalt have agreed to pay over $8,000 to a half dozen customers who fell for their claim that they could pave driveways at a reduced price using a leftover load of asphalt.

Eric Schneiderman’s office says the pair would start the work without signing a contract, then increase the price as the project progressed.

Officials say they are looking for anyone else who may have been a victim of the practice.

Any complaints must be filed by the end of the year.
