Broome County lawmakers are collecting final comments from residents on the final draft of a county budget.

The legislature made 11 changes to the proposal put forth by executive Debra Preston and the public was asked for comment on just those changes.

The legislature restored some funding for the arts council and other programs but cut pay increases for over 100 administrative and non-union government workers. That saved $118,365.

The county executive can veto any of the changes and hand the budget back to the legislature by November 25th.

The final budget must be in place by November 27th.

As it stands now, the proposed $376 million budget increases the tax levy 1.8%.
