As of Friday, November 16, Democrat challenger Anthony Brindisi gained an even greater lead over incumbent Republican Claudia Tenney.  Chenango, Tioga and Oneida Counties are still counting votes.

The final tally is due December 3.

In Broome County, the final standard absentee and affidavit ballot count was completed last week, adding hundreds of votes to Brindisi’s column.  He is showing a lead of over three thousand over Tenney.

The counties that are still counting are looking at challenges filed by both parties.  The challenged votes are to be ruled by a court.

Other contests in the region were also close but most seem to have been resolved in Broome County.  One of those tight races was in the Village of Johnson City where Democrat Benjamin Reynolds is the apparent winner of a seat on the board of trustees over Republican Bruce King by 29 votes.
