Felony Firearm Charge in Deposit

A Deposit man is being charged with felony criminal possession of a firearm.

New York State Police say shortly after 9 p.m. May 25, during an investigation in an unrelated case at a home on Main Street in Deposit, they found 43 year old Matthew Smith had a loaded semi-automatic handgun for which he did not have a permit.

Smith has been ordered to appear in Town of Deposit Court June 5.
