Johnson City Police say they arrested a Village man on five felony counts after stopping him on Burbank Avenue.

Police say they knew 53 year old Joel Wilkerson didn’t have a driver’s license due to several suspensions and say they determined he was driving while intoxicated when stopped.

He is charged with felony driving while intoxicated, felony driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, felony aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher, felony aggravated DWI with a child and felony aggravated unlicensed operation as well as lesser counts of driving without a license and driving without a required ignition interlock.

Police say the DWI charges are felonies due to a previous DWI conviction in the last 10 years and driving with three female passengers in the vehicle who were under the age of 15.

He’s been ordered to appear in Johnson City Court in October.
