Fatal Train/ Pedestrian Investigation Continues

Waverly Police still are not releasing the name of a man who was hit and killed by a Norfolk Southern train at around 10:15 p.m. Monday, September 5 near River Road and the 220 overpass near Ted Clark’s Busy Market.

A woman was also found near the tracks but was not seriously hurt.

Authorities said an autopsy was to be performed to positively identify the man.

Police and the railroad are both investigating.
