The Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to Route 81 Northbound near the Loughlin Road overpass at 5:49 a.m. October 13 to investigate a report of a female lying on the shoulder of the road.  Deputies found a female pinned underneath her vehicle.

According to information supplied by the Broome County Sheriff's Office, deputies found the vehicle's operator, Sandra Roloson, age 68 of Kirkwood, pinned under her vehicle.  She had sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.

A preliminary report reveals Roloson stopped on the shoulder of the roadway for an unknown reason.  The vehicle was in reverse when the driver exited.  That caused the vehicle to roll backwards pinning her underneath.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.  Along with the Sheriff's Office, fire departments from the City of Binghamton and Five-Mile Point as well as the New York State Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
