Fatal Crash Investigated in Wysox

A Sayre man is dead after his vehicle crashed on State Route 187 near the intersection with State Route 467 in Wysox Monday, June 27.

Pennsylvania State Police say 20 year old Michael Byrd Junior was traveling north when his Chevrolet Blazer left the road, hit a guardrail, traveled down an embankment and came to rest in a creek about 20 feet below the roadway.

Byrd, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say it is not known just what time the crash occurred or if alcohol or drugs were involved.  Troopers say it is believed speed was a contributing factor.
