Fatal Crash in the Town of Chenango Update

Broome County Sheriff David Harder says a Chenango Forks man may have suffered a medical emergency prior to crashing into a tree in the area of the intersection of State Route 12 and River Road today.

The fatal crash happened at around 6:15 a.m.

The Sheriff’s office says when deputies arrived, they found 78 year old Harold Sunshine unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a 2013 Toyota.

Investigators say Sunshine had been travelling south when the vehicle left the west shoulder, traveled through a yard and hit the tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be preformed to determine the cause of death.

There were no other vehicles or individuals involved.
