New York State Police are investigating a fatal accident in Otsego County.

At around 7:30 a.m. April 16, authorities responded to call about a vehicle off the road on U.S. Route 20 in the Town of Richfield in an area commonly known as  Brighton Corners.

Investigators say an eastbound car drifted to the southbound shoulder, hit a guiderail and became airborne.  The car rolled over and ended up partially submerged on the passenger side in two feet of water in a creek.

The woman passenger was able to climb out and get to the roadway to flag down help but the female driver was found dead in the car.

The passenger was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with bruises and a broken leg.

The names of the women have not been released.
