Fan Favorite Denis Hamel Inducted Into Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame

Long-time fan favorite Denis Hamel was inducted into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame before the Binghamton Senators versus Rochester Americans game at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night.  Hamel electrified B-Sens fans for six seasons and holds most of the individual season and career scoring records for Binghamton.

Hamel emerged from the Binghamton Senators on-ice entrance to loud and lengthy applause from a crowd of over 4,500 fans.  During his emotional acceptance speech he thanked the fans and community for their support.  He recalled some of his fondest memories during his stay in Binghamton.

Hamel was just as popular off the ice as he was on the ice.  During his six-season stay with the B-Sens he made hundreds of appearances all over the area for charities and  local events.  He spent time in the National Hockey League with four different teams including Binghamton's parent team, the Ottawa Senators.

Hamel was the only candidate selected this year for entry into the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame.  His Hall of Fame plaque is displayed in the Binghamton Hockey Hall of Fame in the concourse area of the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
