Thousands travel Old Vestal Road in Vestal everyday.  Motorists are advised that beginning Monday, February 15th, travelers should expect lengthy delays and backups for at least the next month.  Construction work on the Binghamton Johnson City Joint Sewage Plant will cause travel issues in that area.

Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield made the announcement on Friday.  Both encouraged motorists to avoid that section of Old Vestal Road and use the Vestal Parkway between Bunn Hill Road and Murray Hill Road to avoid traffic delays and backups.

According to the County Executive the work is not expected to disrupt B.C.Transit service.  She stressed that safety is of the utmost importance including the safety of hundreds of workers involved in the project.
