Binghamton Met infielder Phillip Evans has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week.  Evans has been on fire going 16-26 for the week of August 15 - 21.  Included in those numbers are five doubles, one home run and five runs batted in for a .615 average.

Evans has battled his way into the starting lineup and is challenging for the Eastern League's batting crown.  Heading into tonight's (Monday's) game against Hartford Evans is batting .339 with seven home runs and 27 doubles.

He becomes the second Binghamton Met to receive league honors this season.  Pitcher of the Week Rafael Montero earned his honors earlier this month.

Evans and the Binghamton Mets host the Hartford Yard Goats tonight (Monday) at NYSEG Stadium at 6:35.  Broadcast time is set for 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
